About the Association

Cathcart & District Housing Association (CDHA) is a community-controlled housing association, governed by a Management Committee made up of local members. We provide 595 homes for social rent within the local area and manage a further 433 properties on behalf of owner-occupiers.

CDHA was registered with Communities Scotland in April 2025 as a charitable housing association (no. SCO37255). The organisation was formed in 1978 from the former Glasgow Fair Housing Association properties. The Association is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (no. MS1821RS) under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. As such, we cannot distribute profits and any surplus is reinvested for the benefit of the organisation. CDHA is also registered with the Scottish Housing Regulator (no. HAL 85) and is therefore subject to regulation and inspection by this agency.

CDHA has been based within the community since 1988. The first task was to improve the quality of the stock which was achieved through a programme of comprehensive tenemental improvements. Following this, the Association then embarked on a new build development at Dairsie Court and later at Holmlea Court. In 2010, CDHA acquired a further 284 properties through second stage stock transfer from GHA. More recently, the Association completed the development of the former Holmlea Primary School site, now 91 and 99 Spean Street.
